Take A Piece of Alaska with You
With Sean Kurdziolek Portraits and Gallery
Many people visit Alaska to see the Northern Lights, the lucky ones get to be stationed here with the US Military. This sweet family were just that blessed and decided, upon leaving this great state, to take a piece of Alaska with them. This is a common thing to do when you’re in the military. Many families collect items from their bases to carry with them along their journey. An aurora portrait is a very unique heirloom to take. This collectible tells a beautiful story of what it is really like to live in the interior of Alaska.
Claire, Kevin and their little girl (who has the most beautiful eyes and is so very friendly) ventured out into our “cool” tundra to experience the Aurora one last time and capture that very moment so that they could always remember it and take it along with them on their travels.
These beautiful images were taken before the snow fell on Eielson Air Force Base, just south of North Pole, Alaska, which is just south of Fairbanks. The Alaskan Interior! Our fall is short but spectacular. The darker skies allow us to see the sky’s beauty reflected in open waters that will soon freeze with the coming winter temperatures.
This final image captures such a romantic adventure for Claire and Kevin. What a beautiful portrait that their little girl will always treasure. It is so inspiring that Explore Fairbanks asked to use it in their 2018 Visitors Guide so now they’re a little famous. You can see their guide by clicking HERE!
